Biography —
Kristy Ironside is Associate Professor of Soviet and Post-Soviet History at the University of Toronto. She is the author of A Full-Value Ruble: The Promise of Prosperity in the Postwar Soviet Union (Harvard, 2021), which was the 2022 co-winner of the W. Bruce Lincoln Prize from the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies. She is currently working on three book projects: a monograph on the Soviet Union’s international copyright relations, a microhistory of the life and work of the Soviet Union’s official photographic, literary, and musical agent in America during Stalinism, and a book on the fast-food chain McDonald's entry and exit from the Russian market also telling the story of Russia’s engagement with globalization from the 1970s to the present.
